Deutsch: Nach dem konsultativen Referendum über den weiteren Verbleib des Vereinigten Königreichs in der Europäischen Union im Jahr 2016 gab es erhebliche Differenzen zwischen den Befürwortern (Leavers) und den Gegnern (Remainers) eines EU-Austritts. Die Austrittsbefürworter beschrieben zum Teil den Austritt als „so unkompliziert wie Hundefutter“ (as uncomplicated as a Dog's Dinner). Diese Äußerung veranlasste Hundebesitzer zu der Forderung nach einem neuen Referendum ihrer Hunde – einem Wooferendum – gegen den anstehenden Brexit. Bei zwei Kundgebungen im Oktober 2018 und am 10. März 2019 in den Victoria Tower Gardens hinter dem Parlamentsgebäude in London wurde die Forderung vorgetragen.
